GAB CREEK GOLDEN VAQUERO
(x LBF Gay Enchantment)
2003 Colt

OUR JUNIOR STALLION

Gab Creek Golden Vaquero foaled Aug 4, '03 (PKR Primavera Brio x LBF Gay Enchantment).

This is the long awaited line bred cross of Dick Nelsen's Primavera lines of Gay Vaquero and Valdez with Ab Cross's H-Ken. You probably know Gay Vaquero, Ro Mac, Valdez, etc., but H-Ken is himself all cow horse bred by Ab Cross and born in Dubois, Wyoming, on the Cross Ranch. As a weanling he was sold to Reed Allen of Wyoming as payment for an old war debt. He spent his first 14 years there, then went to Colorado Springs with the Bruhn family. Sherry Cheeseman Siebenthaler bought Ken when he was 20 years old and moved him to North Hero, VT. Polly Smith was able to get Gay Enchantress (a Gay Vaquero daughter) in foal to Ken, and Gay Enchantment (aka Mandy) was the off spring. Primavera Brio on Mandy has given us Vaquero. There are very few horses now with this much Nelsen breeding (Dick Nelsen's Primavera lines).

GAB CREEK MOTILLA
(x Althea Moro)
2005 Colt

Shown here at 7 weeks - Photo by Laura Behning

Motilla on his 2nd birthday- Photo by Haley Stone

Gab Creek "Motilla":
Also with Cortez in the conquest of Mexico, according to Diaz, was"Motilla": the best horse ever to come to the New World (this was after the
pillage of the Incas and Cortez went back to Spain and bought the best that existed)....he became a proverb so that when any horse was extraordinarily good we used to say 'he was as good as Motilla'. He was a bay with a white star in his forehead, and his near foot was white, he
became a legend". Diaz writes that these horses were bought in Spain by Cortez paying their actual weight "in Gold"..... (because they were the best in the world period.

This "Motilla" also has a star in his forehead and one white foot. He will finish a dark gold. We call him "Tilla" (Ti-Ya) or little "Mo". At this picture he is coming two months old. He is by PKR Primavera Brio (by Primavera Valdez) out of Althea Moro (Cameron of Quietude X Misty Morning Dew, by
Westridge Ashley Moro).

The name Motilla is not lightly bestowed. Althea Moro is one of the few living horses we have actually seen that has "the" Jubilee King himself on her actual AMHA registration papers (as well as
Jubilee's Courage both top and bottom). She is essentially "Brunk" and Brio has all that Brunk. Althea has what we call "hang time" in that
she suspends in the air between every stride at the trot and this colt can do it too.

SOLD!
Congrats to Bill & Susan Visi, Duluth, GA who purchased Motilla as a yearling and are leaving him with John for training.

GAB CREEK TIO MORO
(Primavera Brio x Althea Moro)
2007 Colt

(Primavera Brio x Althea Moro) 2007 Colt. TM is a
minimal sabino chestnut with facial markings identical to his dam and three white stockings. You only have to look at his full brother Motilla to see
how he will mature. He will have significant height and is the golden cross of Primavera on Lambert."

Congratulations to Bobby and Linda Whitlock of Georgia on their second Brio buckskin baby. Their first was a filly and this is a colt. Preacher (born while they were at church on Sunday morning) is the first Brio buckskin colt and is from a foundation mare of Pine Ethan Walker blood.
