We are working carefully to line breed toward the old families by close breeding (without inbreeding). In this way we are attempting to balance size, bone and substance with refinement and to follow the "cattleman's approach" to consistency of conformation.

Brio's full suster Gay MaShanta (Shanta) is a Primavera Valdez daughter, and LBF Gay Enchantment (Mandy) is a granddaughter of Primavera Gay Vaquero (half-brother to Valdez). Brio on Mandy has given us a line-bred filly (Rosado) and a line-bred colt (Vaquero). Funquest Erick on Gay MaShanta has given us Traveler. These sons, daughters, nieces and nephews of Brio/Shanta are the seed stock for some tight line-breedings in the future. For example, Traveler (Funquest Erick x Primavera Valdez daughter) on Rosado (Primavera Brio x Primavera granddaughter) will give us a close-bred horse that is more than 50% "Primavera Breeding."

Shanta is in foal to Sereno Vermont Jazz (oldest of the Old California/Red Vermont blood), and that 2006 foal offers yet another opportunity to cross back on Rosado, Vaquero, Traveler or Motilla (Althea Moro's 2005 colt) and to produce yet another line-bred offspring.

Althea Moro is a high concentration Brunk-blooded mare tracing through Criterion to Jubilee King and through Super-Rey Movita to Moscovia on BOTH sides of her registration certificate. She has double crosses to Supersam who Joanne Curtis, La Serena Morgans, once described as "the most maginificent, smoothly put together Morgan I had seen back here (in the EAST), but he was lost in the Orcland fire. He was by Lippitt Sam and out of Paragraph by Jubilee King."

Althea's 2005 colt Motilla has her floating trot, heavy bone and substance, and Brio's refinement. Motilla is heavily Brunk-bred up close because of Brio and Althea being foaled from very senior stock.
